About this service

The Hepatitis A vaccine is a highly effective inactivated vaccine administered as a primary dose followed by a booster at six to twelve months. The primary dose provides protection from approximately two weeks after administration and is sufficient for short to medium-term travel. The booster dose extends protection to approximately twenty-five years, making it a highly cost-effective long-term investment for those who travel regularly. The vaccine can be administered alongside many other travel vaccines, and a combined Hepatitis A and B vaccine (Twinrix) is available for those who require protection against both viruses. Our travel health team will advise on the most appropriate schedule for your circumstances.
